We are thrilled to announce that the OpenStreetMap Foundation has been selected by the Sovereign Tech Agency for a service agreement in the amount of 384,000 EUR over two years to ensure the stability, growth and modernization of OpenStreetMap’s core software.

All searches in my town (Gatineau) list it as Ottawa but should be Gatineau.

Gatineau - Quebec - Canada Is not Ottawa - Ontario - Canada

It's very annoying and error inducing.

Feel free to rant and vent in this lemmy-thread, but don't speculate or "give good advice" to the operations-team; they know what they are doing.

The foundation does not advertise this much, but they run a really lean operation and it would probably help to donate a bit to them. You can donate directly to them via a few means; PayPal and card, bank transfers, and Bitcoin.

Currently OSM are having issues with their ISP and still are operating from their backups in read-only. Having more funding so they can afford better redundancy may help them in future situations like this.

Also, OSM is very important imo and it would be terrible if they didn't receive enough funding to continue existing. Donating should help safeguard against that.

The whole site is down and I can't upload any changesets. It doesn't appear maintenance related.

Osmand doesn't appear to be able to locate street addresses. Like if I input something like "123 4th Street" all it can do is offer some cross streets, which may be miles away from my intended location.

Is there a way to augment it's data so street addresses work? Maybe there's a service I can add?

Similarly, it doesn't know the names of many businesses.

I just discovered the project “Every Door” which allows you to edit elements for OpenStreetMap in the blink of an eye.

The project is a simple mobile app written in Flutter and is also opensource under ISC license.

New OSM based Map Website.

We use open data from OSM.org , a platform with over a million volunteers world wide, updating the map, roads, locations etc in their area. This includes any shops.

Hopefully it keeps alive and does not die (like similar Qwant Maps)

I moved all pictures created with MapComplete and hosted on Imgur to our Panoramax instance. You can read a bit more about the process and some discoveries here
