Yes, CEWS and CERB were pushed out the door with very little oversight with the idea that the important thing was to get the money to those who needed it now and worry about accounting for things later. Not a totally unreasonable position at the time. The issue is that the later has come and CERB recipients are dealing with that accounting left right and centre whereas CEWS oversight is...Where?

Oh absolutely agree that the initial implementation was a product of the necessity at the time. I guess I'm just flabbergasted at the blatant lack of fucks from CRA, especially because, as you point out, the accountability for individuals who received CERB is clearly a priority for them now. Yet CEWS was the bigger program cost-wise.
