I've been looking at things to do in melbs and was considering a ferry ride to portarlington

looking at portarlington, other than eating and walking it's a really boring place . I will have no car so convince me otherwise.

Yea have to agree there.

They do have a nice pier and quiet beach though.

Have a meal with some fellow DTers πŸ₯° Edit: I'd love to meet you and I'm sure I could rustle up a couple of compatriots to come with

If steam trains are your things, SteamRail Victoria run a thing called "Rail and Sail". Basically, you go one way on a steam train, and the other on a boat. You can choose either steam train there and boat back, or boat there and steam train back

The next one isn't until April 27th, but if that sounds interesting to you, you should do it! I'm pretty sure it includes transport from/to Portarlington, although I may be wrong

How about a ferry ride to French Island - hire some bikes and tour the island or do birdwatching or something like. Can do it all on public transport if liked. The train from Frankston to Stony Point is charming and you get to see the interior of the Mornington Peninsula away from the highways etc. The ferry also goes to Philip Island, and there's stuff to see there and very good food available. I have to admit I really like French Island - the wildlife and birds are so very unafraid and very approachable to within photo distance.

Agree, I think French Island is much more interesting
