Then why haven't they?
Do you think 24 months is a long enough time to be confident about how a company will behave over the next decade?
Especially wheb Moore's Law is dead and they need to take ever more extreme measures to make those numbers go up.
Why would Moore's law matter here for an operating system? Also both are far older than 24 months.
Microsoft is a tech company, so if tech has hit a way they're going to have to find new ways of monetization to keep the numbers going up
Their money doesn't really come from selling hardware though. I mean they sell a bit but it's a pretty small portion of their business
