NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is the first Canadian political leader to call for the U.S. president to be uninvited from a major summit of world leaders this summer in Canada.

"Why would we invite someone who threatens our sovereignty and economic well-being? Why would we invite someone who threatens the economic well-being of allies and threatens the world's stability? Why would we allow a convicted criminal into our country?" Singh said in a statement.

I'm torn on this.

On the one hand it's absurd to invite a leader that's waging an economic war against us, with the aim of eliminating our sovereignty.

On the other hand, we don't really belong in G7, so we'd be putting our membership in jeopardy, which would be bad for Canada's economy, autonomy and influence.

On the other other hand, it's my understanding that the G7 is a tool of capital to co ordinate advanced economies with the aim of perpetuating unjustified wealth inequality both within those countries and compared to the Global South.

So all together um, I don't know

ultimately it's got nothing to do with any of us, and all of them are playing on our emotions for their own ends. whether he gets let in or not, after four miserable years we'll still be here, and he won't be.
