He says he was puzzled that the party had deemed him “unworthy” or “unqualified” to run for the party in a community he’d served provincially for three decades

His previous tenure is exactly why I don't think this guy should ever have a government position of any kind again.

I've done a few deep dives into the various controversies surrounding the Liberal leadership in this province (I was a bit young to understand it when it was happening) but every single time, I manage to be more shocked at how they got away with so much for so freaking long.

First-past-the-post allows political parties to get away with too much because voters are always forced into only 2 viable options. Want to hold the liberals accountable? And you’re a moderate or a leftist? What are you going to do vote for the other guy who you disagree with more?

Support proportional representation if you want to hold the establishment politicians accountable.
