This is what we Romanians call “pancakes” (clătite). In the US for example, these are not “pancakes”. What Americans call “pancakes”, we call “clătite americane” (American pancakes) or just “pancakes” (the untranslated English word).

a simple concession for my vegetarian and vegan friends that hurts nobody. empathy is free you know!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

As one of those friends, I appreciate the thought, but also was definitely a little confused until you explained it.

I'm vegetarian (trying to be vegan) but have to cook meat for others and i'm not really bothered by the sight. Some are truly bothered though, and i'm very confident that the simple label would give them all the info they need to not click, so that's really who it's for.

On my home instance of hexbear all animal products go under such a tag and i think that's a very nice way of going about it so i keep it up when i'm in libland.

Huh. Is it a rule or an instance culture thing? Do you know what was the impetus?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 hours ago

i'm not sure, I know it's a rule on the /c/food comm where i mostly post but everyone does it across the instance. The reason is precisely as I stated above, it's an easy and simple thing that makes our vegan and vegetarian friends feel welcome.

Marxism is all about acceptance and protection of marginalized people, because fighting capitalism and making a better world for people requires us to care about and support each other.

didn't say it did, just seemed funny to open it up and it's bacon

If empathy is free, then why don't I have any 🦍

They also say "the best things in life are free," but then I end up dropping $300 at the dispensary.

Somebody's been lying.
