While President Donald Trump’s increase of tariffs — and retaliatory tariffs from other countries — will likely mean fewer U.S. agricultural exports, the president has consistently suggested that American farmers can make up the difference by selling more of their products at home.

“Get ready to start making a lot of agricultural product to be sold INSIDE of the United States,” Trump wrote in a social media post on March 3.

Tofu revolution, tofu could be like a dollar a package. We need to start eating them here.

I've only had tofu in soups or stit fry, or coated in corn starch and fried.

Are there any good dishes where it is the main course? (Anyone have any they'd recommend?)

Tofu can be made to have any flavour you want. It's very absorbent of any marinade you give it.

One is my favourite things to make is what I call Seitofu (seitan covered tofu). The seitan acts like a protein heavy batter so they kind of become like the chicken balls you have sweet and sour Chinese with (don't know if that's a thing in the US).

  • Chop up tofu into small chunks
  • put into a tub you have a lid for
  • cover with a marinade (I often get pre flavoured smokey tofu so I just use soy sauce or liquid aminos)
  • put on lid and shake
  • pour in a bit of vital wheat gluten (what becomes the seitan) and shake again
  • repeat from marinade step onwards a few times if needed and depending on how thick you want the seitan to be
  • stick into an air fryer for a few minutes
  • separate the pieces, shake them etc
  • put in again and repeat until they're as crispy as you want then to be

They're a lovely high protein snack to just munch on their own or great in Chinese style dishes like I mentioned earlier. You can also use a conventional oven but I wouldn't know the timings. Air fryer is just quicker and easier to check on so I prefer that.

Aldi's less than $2, I think $1.50 or so

Trump police speaking: don't come up with ideas that prevent climate change, thank you.
