An email with the subject "Tic Tok Trend".
It says:
Students and Parents,
We are aware of the Tik Tok trend involving students inserting small metal objects (such as paper clips, pushpins, pencil lead, etc.) into the charging ports of their Chromebooks. This can result in creating sparks, electrical fires, and/or battery punctures, all of which can cause serious injury and damage.
After this message, if a student chooses to participate in this inappropriate behavior, the student may be charged the replacement fee for a new Chromebook. Additionally, the student will face disciplinary action in the form of out of school suspension (OSS).
We are asking for your support in speaking with your child about the dangers of this behavior, as well as reinforcing the importance of treating school-issued devices with care.
A purple button at the bottom says “View, Appreciate or Reply”, and a note underneath states “Please do not reply to this email.”
I remember a kid in our class grabbed a fork from lunch, then proceeded to wrap his hand with a sweatshirt when we’re in class and then stabbed the outlet causing our room and a couple of classrooms to loose power. I think they thought it just happened randomly since the sub didn’t notice plus the lights went off so you couldn’t see him stabbing the outlet. Our class got yelled at for being too loud since they were screaming when the lights went off, but the kid that did that never got caught.
