One of the few accurate things Trump has said was that he could "shoot someone in the middle of fifth avenue and not lose any votes." He pulled the phrase out of his ass but I think he was correct. His base either chooses to ignore his lifetime of scumbaggery or they know and just don't care. I doubt there's anything Putin has on him that would turn off the MAGA crowd. And I'm sure he's done some truly horrible shit that we don't know about.

His supporters don't care. They lack empathy. It has been repeatedly demonstrated that the only way they will care is if his poor decisions impact them in a very personal, tangible way.

And even then that's not a guarantee. Lots of people on social media complain about the results of his administration and include the addendum: "Please don't blame my special boy for my misery."

They are full of hate, and just want him to hurt the people they hate

They will happily be hurt too, just so long as they think that Trump is hurting their perceived foes even worse

It's disgusting, and so very American

Definitely not exclusive to the US but still a significant and shameful part of our history. LBJ said it best. "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored [brown, gay, trans, etc.] man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

Yep

Something that was said so publicly is remembered by so few, and the ramifications echo around the world decades later

The US doesn't have a monopoly on stupidity, hate and ignorance

But they're so proud of it...

And so blind to the fact that so much of the world just wants them to fuck off and sit in the corner

I've been asked why July 4 isn't a big deal in Australia, and when I laughed, it was met with huffy indignation

Just like the stupid American woman demanding a discount for a tourist attraction in London because she had an American AAA card, and being pissy because she didn't get one

I like it when yanks ask me how I'm supposed to defend myself without firearms (I laugh when they say "gun", because it tells me so much)

When I point out that people aren't armed here, so it's not an issue, the type to ask that question genuinely can't understand it

Because they're stupid.

In every news article I have read that has contained an intervju with a Trump supporter, they have said that they do not believe which every accusation was asked about. Trump's repeated claims about "fake news" does seem to work really well.
