Parts of the device you are using right now to read this were built by machines that are only produced in the EU. They are maintained by service contracts between Asian and European companies, which subjects them to tariffs. The next device you buy will probably be substantially more expensive than the previous one you bought because of that, regardless of whether or not it was made domestically. Supply chains are way too complex to say you don't get anything from somewhere. That's just one example.

Besides this is just Trump's playbook. Make an maximalist threat, walk it back, claim victory. He's in step one, by the end of June tariffs will be delayed indefinitely.
