I don’t expect much, but Newsom could totally seize on this moment to reinvigorate a progressive left.

I bet he won’t

He's neo-liberal at best. That doesn't mean those on the progressive left can't sieze on this moment to invigorate themselves, and work with him and those like him to fight against these injustices.

He's not a sole savior who can right all the wrongs, he's just one man. That doesn't mean we can't stand beside and fight with him. He's one among the many, we need to decide on our own values, and decide if they're worth fighting for.

Looking for a saviour will only make your cause weaker. This needs to be grassroots.

Humans don't co-ordinate well in groups with more than 50 members, having a central figure to follow is useful for maintaining co-ordination and a clear message.

Waiting for someone else to start the movement is why we are here.

There's no movement without class consciousness. Grassroots doesn't work without, well, grassroots

Newsom is self-serving, right-leaning neoliberal scum. He has as much in common with “progressive left” as the chemical formula for caffeine has with a tardigrade.

I know you’re probably joking, but caffeine and tardigrades have many very curious genetic commonalities.

Insofar as a once could call a polymer a very large molecule. Regardless, the statement that a single molecule bears any similarity to the DNA sequence of any creature is a bit absurd unless you've just discovered that life can be carbon based.

That's funny and interesting, although maybe not related to American politics.

I mean, the stream I was watching, once it cut away to the anchor, she accidentally called him President Newsom.

For the worthless color commentary that it is, his speech was very "presidential".

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I’m sure if I watched the stream, I see some awesome shit, too. But I don’t wanna get it pulled in like that. I dunno

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

I mean look, I would shit in Newsoms mouth given the chance.

But all hands on deck.

FUCKING WHAT?!?!?! GAVIN NEWSOM?!?! The asshole who JUST went on a far right podcaster to shit on trans people? You think he’s INVIGORATING THE PROGRESSIVE LEFT?!?!?! HAVE. YOU. LOST. YOUR. FUCKING. MIND?!?! I work in the Government, I’ve worked for a democratic senator and a democratic congresswoman—and Gavin has me contemplating leaving the democratic party if he becomes the nominee. I don’t know WHAT world yalls are living in, but it’s not the real world. Say WHATEVER you want about Gavin, you can say he’s the best guy to meet the moment now, whatever. But don’t you DARE claim that that neoliberal, far right pandering HACK is going to “reinvigorate the progressive left” like HOLY SHIT you ruined my morning with this dumbassery 🤣

This reads like the marine copy pasta.
