And my favorite quote, when another Republican rep started jumping on the reporter after Trump's initial dig:

Conservative Rep. Chip Roy took a moment to slam the media while speaking.

“For all of the media clamoring to ask that ridiculous first question and try to point fingers, the governor said it best when he said pointing fingers is for losers,” the GOP lawmaker said.

🥴👉

Edit: looks like we have a real answer, and this is likely why Donald was extra-quick to lash out at that first reporter. Excerpt taken from this article

In 2021, the Biden administration awarded Kerr County $10.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, which could have been used for flood prevention infrastructure. But commissioners, facing political pressure from conservative residents, opted not to pursue a warning system.

At an April 2022 meeting, one citizen called the White House a "criminal treasonous communist government," urging the county to reject the money altogether. Others echoed that sentiment, saying they didn't want the federal government's help.

"We don't want to be bought by the federal government, thank you very much," a resident said. "We'd like the federal government to stay out of Kerr County and their money."

While the county ultimately kept the funds, they allocated the majority, about $8 million, to sheriff's department upgrades and public employee stipends.

So they took the "criminal communist" money and misused it to buy shit for themselves. Fucking clowns.

BTW, there's an opportunity for a huge ass civil lawsuit.

I for one am shocked that Joe "fund the police" Biden signed a law that allowed for federal money to be wasted on cop bullshit! Gosh, if only someone has told us there were better ways to protect public safety. Like maybe some protesters or activists somewhere could have said something? I'm sure we would have listened to them and taken them seriously, and we definitely would not have tear gassed them and beat them and shot them with rubber bullets and etc.

Me, bitter? Nooo /s

Do you always jump in with completely irrelevant talking points?

The money was givem to them as part of ARPA funding and the county misused it. Biden isn't relevant any more. Stop whining about the past and work for a better future.

You really don't think it's relevant to this story that the president who said he wanted to fund the police in his first state of the union address signed a law that allowed these Republicans to waste federal money on stupid cop bullshit? It's basically guaranteed that if any staffers inside his administration had tried to stop this county or anyone else from wasting this money on stupid cop bullshit they would've been fired on the spot because Biden thought "funding the police" was a political winner.

Stop whining about the past and work for a better future.

This is basically what Greg Abbott and all the Republicans have been saying about this with their "finger pointing is for losers" bullshit, and they're wrong too. Until more people understand our past and understand that there are a lot of shitty Democratic party members who make the damage the Republican party is able to inflict on all of us worse who need to be removed from political influence our future is fucked.
