Tbh I am one of thjose losers who's so afraid of death that I hope we figure something out regarding it before times up for me so I sorta get THAT part.

The fear is understandable, but some are driven by that fear to hope the vampires become immortal so that a ghoulish trickle-down version of that vampiric immortality might be theirs if they play along. Maybe.
