We have an open issue to create a privacy policy on the github, ideally one that would apply to all instances. We could use some help drafting it.

I'm not sure I understand how a privacy policy could apply to all instances. Genuinely curious.
The same way most rules/laws/policies apply: create a broad policy that is more or less acceptable by everyone and then let everyone else decide what they want within those guidelines.
Maybe it is related at how the data is handled by Lemmy by default.
I know that WordPress has general ones for an instance due to the default requirements.
