if we go by the hours I've put into a game it would have to be between Quake and StarCraft :)
A fellow PC gamer I see :) +1 for Quake, such an amazing game. Most people say it's just Doom in 3D, I didn't really feel that way. The way guns handle, monsters, level design and most importantly the atmosphere feels very different.
the quake 1 soundtrack is also killer. Trent reznor needs to do more game stuff
Yeah, and it's the first FPS where using mouse and keyboard feels really natural. Online play was also really fun. Since it was really easy to mod people came up with so many gameplay ideas like power up runes, grappling hook, and CTF that are pretty much standard in every FPS now. I spent so much time with quakeworld. :)
I don't really care for the multiplayer for me it's all about the single player campaign. Maps are wonderfully designed, movement is smooth, guns are loud, combat is fast and projectile based with tons of explosions and I love it.
Oh I definitely enjoyed single player as well.
