I don't know your life of course, so maybe this won't work for you. But I had a similar hangup. So I figured who it was really important to keep in contact with, made sure I had a way to do so (phone numbers, usually). Then deleted my account.

Everyone has voice, sms, and e-mail. If they can't contact me by one of those it's their problem.
