Why tf does this matter? Let her stand on her own two feet. Who she fucked shouldn't matter.
I think she should be defined by her own achievements, which is why I listed those first. But it's a fun fact for people out of the loop that she was married to Jack - a lot of younger people don't know that.
I think it also gives her a bit of credos.
Of course, it's not an accomplishment, but it's definitely a testament of her character. If you believe that Jack Layton was authentically progressive, it reasons that his wife is too.
They clearly deeply influenced each other. Why are you so upset about it, do you feel like people are not giving her the credit she deserves? Because I don't see that happening here.
