OMG the trolls are already here from Reddit, downloading even such a helpful announcement as this. It would be interesting to find out why, like did it show up on https://kbin.social/newest and they did not like that? That legit might be a thought to try to prevent that, b/c we are pretty niche, and we don't want to bother others looking for more generalized content with our discussions... but with just a down-vote we'll never know. Okay, I'm officially ignoring it starting now!:-P
Except I have to add this: how could someone not know how ~~sexy hot~~ awesome Scott is!?
My bad. I should have included a steamy screenshot to make it more obvious to random passersby.
Okay, I got you covered: it's one of the top pics of all time on the Reddit sub, here. (I managed to find it without using Reddit directly by using subredditstats:-)
I tend to ignore the downvotes, honestly. People are gonna do their thing, and I'm gonna do mine.
That said, a down vote is one thing, but posting hurt is another. Reminds me I have to put together a community CoC or something.
I mean in the end, yeah. But on Reddit, it was quite annoying when EVERY SINGLE COMMENT in an entire post gets downvoted - it's an example of outright hostility / brigading against the sub, and makes people less likely to come forward from lurking and actually say anything. Although in the end, one of the most minor offenses, compared to like apathy or outright resistance.
Also, side-note: I made a Squabbles group, though even I have never posted to it so it was entirely a test that did not pan out (and you cannot delete groups there, yet:-). If you like, you can totally ~~borrow~~ steal what I wrote there, as a starting point:
i wouldn't worry about the downvotes. sometimes it's just random passersby on kbin downvoting because all kbin posts might show up on the main feed. i dont think its brigading like on reddit at this point.
btw, downvotes are public because this is activitypub. you can click on any post -> more -> activity -> reduce tab and itll show you. see:
i dont know if it's better to have that knowledge, but hey, its public information.
I think it might help people be more honest about the process - like if you knew, would you still brigade? But in this case, yeah it's not a brigade, just isolated, so I wondered what it was about.
If it was transparent on Reddit, it would answer so many questions.
Exactly. Instead, only admins can see that, and they choose to do nothing, ever. So, that's our choice then, to take what they offer or... go elsewhere:-).
