Friend of mine watched a guy do his laundry on the bus once.
As in, he took off his clothes, threw them on the floor near the rear entrance, pour water (maybe water?) and some soap (maybe soap?), and on his knees used the ridged surface of the bus like a washboard.
So it can also be a laundry mat full of friends you haven't met yet.
Also a mental health institution.
