At what point do you start calling someone a ancestor rather than a relative? (lemmy.world)

For me it’s my 5th great grandmother anyone further back in the tree is my ancestor because I think 6 greats is a bit much.

I wouldn't go that far. I think your great grandparents are relatives, and anyone further back is an ancestor. I might stretch to great great grandparents, but I don't think I'd go any further
