Unfortunately I do both. I struggle to sleep, but then I lose track of time and stay awake until the early hours. When I do eventually fall asleep, I often sleep for over ten hours and make it worse.

This has just let me recover a podcast where the feed from the site I was using stopped working, thank you :D
Thank you 🙂
aeharding, the Voyager developer, has said that they're working on a fix, so hopefully it will be sorted soon. I've updated the post to reflect that 🙂
On top of that, I've seen a few of these posts over the last few hours, and it seems like they all have different recommendations for alternative apps.
I've seen at least three replacements for WhatsApp already, Signal, Element, and another one I've forgotten the name of. The one based on email. If I'm getting confused, imagine how a 'normal' person is going to feel.
Yes, sorry. I woke up in the middle of the night, but apparently my brain didn't...
I'll correct it now 👍
Briar is the one that was mentioned a lot when the protests were happening in Hong Kong, if that helps 👍
That's the position that I'm in. I get PIP, the non means tested disability allowance, but because my wife works, we're not entitled to anything else.
I can't really complain, as we're doing better than a lot of people, but it doesn't exactly feel great knowing that we don't qualify for any other help.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) was apparently doing this a few years ago. They would book people in for appointments in an upstairs room and put out of order signs on the lifts. Anyone who made it to the room was automatically denied their benefits.
I say apparently because I didn't personally know anyone who went through that one. The office that I had to visit had a car park, but no spaces near the door. I was dropped off by the door while my wife parked the car, but another person drove themselves and walked from the car. Their claim was denied, based on the distance they walked.
I'm a 46 year old man with a wife and kid. I've got a beard, and I ride a motorbike. I could quite neatly fit the stereotype of a manly man.
Watching this scene, I giggled like a schoolgirl, and I'm trying not to giggle now :D
Would kiosk mode be any good for her use case? Add the photos etc. as a different user and give Grandma read only access, and automatically reset her home directory on boot / login.
Use an immutable distro to lessen the chance of her deleting something important, and you should be set. Maybe set up Firefox with sync so that she can add bookmarks, and have that log in automatically.
I've been going to a coffee and a chat mental health support group lately, and it's near a park. This week was cold, but the weather was nice enough to go for a walk, so I spent about an hour slowly making my way through the park and adding to OpenStreetMap.
It's been a while since I've felt well enough to go for a walk for the sake of it, and the mapping made me feel like I'd accomplished something too :)
