I'm looking for something I can use on my laptop. The official spotify client works, but it's a bit slow so was wondering if there are alternatives.

I got a spotify account, so would like to be able to use this one with it.

Thanks!

There's Spot: https://github.com/xou816/spot which is a GTK client.

It has limited functionality at the moment but enough to find and listen to music.

I just watched a video about Tauon Music Box this morning https://peertube.linuxrocks.online/w/rQuqEhaB6uJZanxhDCb3w6. From the video description: Tauon Music Box is a minimalist Spotify Front end and Music Player for the Linux Desktop. It's in active development and designed to be both beautiful and to get out of the way.

Can I use any of these without an account? Is there a way to skip ads? I closed my Spotify account when I heard about their censorship - but, i really used it anyway because of the ads.
