DWD determined that the 11 were owed $8,230 altogether. The lawsuit states Kruk’s failure to pay the back wages was “willful” and qualifies for a penalty of an additional 100% of the unpaid wages.

Bro could have made this go away for $17,000 but instead chose to commit blatant fraud. He really ought to lose everything.

If there is justice in the world the system would now just seize the new business and hand all its assets to the employees to start a workers coop.

If there was justice the owner would be getting arrested for theft.

Edit- for clarity

The rich will gladly spent 1000$ on a lawyer to keep people from getting a "free" 100$.

But they also got rid of the union in this process as well, presumably, which would cost them money by reducing how much wages they could steal from workers.

Well, except defrauding the finding that you pay back wages and reinstate (with union) the employees you fired probably means you still gotta reinstate them and allow them to keep a union. And now you have a very hostile workforce who will all but ensure any new hires are pulled into the union. So really just a colossal mistake as far as I can tell.

It was recently brought to my attention, while being attacked for being part of a union and owning an EV, that the problem with America is employers treating employees too well.

Punch that person in the face and tell them you're welcome. If you have a full bladder, piss on their shoes as well.

Can you imagine pulling this shit over $8,000?? That amount of money isn't the sort of money that's nothing to a business owner, but in the face of this sort of thing????? There are people that could have been a million dollars deep in the hole and had enough of a brain and a heart to go 'this is stupid, morally bankrupt, and not even worth the risk'

[–] [email protected] 67 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's not about the $8000, it's about defeating the unionization effort and sending a warning to the other employees.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

The only warning he managed to send is that they're a moron who will now have to pay even more money.

Steal from workers = go to jail.

The new business is called Thunder Bay, located in Columbus, WI, if anyone wants to leave a review.

Found it: https://www.linkedin.com/company/thunderbay

Need to tear them a new one on glassdoor too.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago

Careful. Glassdoor is no longer anonymous and will share your info with former employers.
