"Ah, the human has the zoomies."

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

I heard someone in real life say that and died a little inside.

I feel like humans are basically terminators for a lot of animals, it just never stops, chasing you at a modest pace, long past the point you're tired.

I chase down my prey at the grocery store where it doesn't try to run away.

They posted it on Twitter (which I'm not gonna link) but I'm on mobile so searching that Tumblr is gonna be a hassle.

What it's actually thinking is

OMG I NEED RUN IN FRONT OF THEM THEN SLOW DOWN SO THEY CRASH INTO ME

Don't wolves do some of the same kind of hunting though?

[–] [email protected] 23 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Nah, hunting methods for wolves and prehistoric humans are very different. Wolves sprint for a quick takedown. Humans would chase animals for hours and days before the prey can no longer resist.

I'll be damned. I had seen old documentaries that showed wolves being persistence hunters with large game. Learn new stuff every day :)

It's actually interesting, the evolutionary trait that gave us the edge is actually sweating. Only humans, primates, horses and hippos really have the ability to sweat sufficiently to cool themselves. Canines and felines can only sweat through their paws, not enough to cool themselves. They can pant, but not enough for duration running. Primitive humans literally ran down their prey until the prey would overheat.

So we're basically Jason for other animals

[–] [email protected] 12 points 11 months ago

I heard they like flanking others before they attack. Maybe he's doing that? Wait a minute, do you think he might be doing that to us right now?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

It's more of a predator - death.

An oldie but a goody
