Someone on reddit a long time ago said, look at the item to your right, that's your new username, what is it? It was before I had ever made an account so I took that as time to make one. I was at work so a bag of plasma was there. Done deal.

A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try [email protected] or [email protected]

Because it's mine and it was available.
Because Ganondorf should have been a clone of Samus in Smash Bros Melee, not Captain Falcon. At the time, his one appearance (Ocarina of Time) had him using a projectile-focused moveset. This would have inevitably given him morph ball motions (down-B and roll), which would have ultimately been swapped out, but it's a fun thought that it would have been like that during part of development.
Autocorrect kinda fudged mine up and I said go it.
Why?
Because one was required.
When?
2001, heading to Assembly '01, a large LAN event in Helsinki.
Or was it '02?
It's a reference to age of empires 2. My favorite game during my childhood.
Someone once told me "pick two words and a number"
I did
I was trying to figure out a username for another social media, and landed on this one after trying weird combinations of my name and birth year, none of which I like. Afterwards, it just stuck around because I became my life motto for many things as well.
Wanted something not related to my other usernames and I fucking love gyozas
I used this name for a specific purpose, then that purpose became irrelevant. With the API fubar, I ditched both of my profile names though this does bone one purpose of one of the old aliases (for my NSFW work) so I may end up bringing it back in some form. I like this name better though.
I just used the name I use on Discord and a few others places.
It was originally Toothless_NEO and still is on Reddit, Steam, and for some reason matrix but I changed it everywhere else I could because an asshole was harassing me and encouraging other people to harass me (had to actually pay money to change it in some places, Xbox live makes you pay to change your username).
It's a variation on what my wife calls me. It's been my username on forums and such for a long time.
Used to play a lot of games, some sci-fi, some fantasy... was lazy and didn't like having to come up with multiple names. It just kinda stuck.
I love tea
It's a reference to Buell Motorcycles and their tractor like engines.
Been using this user name since I made a PSN account when I was 12 lol
I actually forgot why
A Tek chip was the delivery mechanism for the VR drugs from the William Shatner authored TekWar books.
Wind... fire... All that kind of thing.
Controversial
Came to me in a dream
Because it works
It's like shootin' the breeze, but old time sailor-y.
I don't really remember, but it's short - 4 letters, 2 syllables and it's a real name. It's not my real name though and yes, people love referring to that n-word when they see my username. I have it for years and I don't regret it.
I was an emotional teenager who thought "life was too chaotic". I've grown fond of the name over the years, so I still use it to this day.
