Years ago, I had a regular stop by the shop where I worked. She told me she had a scare the previous day. Her dog OD'd. He'd eaten poop in the park. They managed to get him back, but it was a close thing.

I dunno where our dog even shits. We let him loose at the city park where we adopted him from, and he goes wherever he goes, often an acre or more away somewhere off in the woods.

He won't shit in the presence of people, so nobody even knows where he shits. So, even if we wanted to do the 'right' thing and clean up after him, that's like impossible, since we don't know where he goes.

Edit: I love the downvotes, without any hint of advice..

WTF would you do with a dog that absolutely refuses to shit anywhere close to a human? Can't clean shit when you don't even know where it is...

You're fine. Do bears shit in the woods?

My dogs have never pooped on a leash.

Still, people can be sticklers about that 💩

Emoji pun obviously intended. But for real, what if it's a bad weather day and we can't make it out to the park? How do we convince him to fully relieve himself on a walk behind our apartments?

By all means - respect the local rules and the people around you. But don't go running into a ravine to pick up what may be raccoon scat.
