Oppression is when no one flies your flag, and the more no one flies your flag, the more oppressed you are.
Liberalism is when you deport an elementary school student back to a war zone for failing performatively support gay rights.
Conservatism is when you deport an elementary school student back to a war zone for failing to performatively support white nationalism.
Radical Centrism is when you deport an elementary school student back to a war zone by means-tested lottery, because you've picked an arbitrary value of deportations that get both liberals and conservatives to agree to your immigration reform plan and now you've got all these private sector deportation consultants with quotas to hit.
Kids don't have to go to the war zone. That's negative framing. They get to go to a war zone

given most people would disagree, it might just be that the presence of flags has little to do with the state of oppression of a minority. not to mention that mocking the LGBTQIA+ movement as saying "wahh we're oppressed" is completely bizarre given that every right wing group in the West, not even starting on those outside the West, are actively becoming increasingly hostile to the movement by the day.

it's a child. their brains aren't even fully formed and for all that teacher knows it's the parents putting it on them. saying we'll mistreat you if you don't X is wrong regardless of what X -- the kid shouldn't be mistreated regardless. if they're bigoted towards other kids, punish them however you'd punish anyone else, but don't heap extra shit on them for being muslim -- that's just racism.

Stating the obvious, but, pride is about pride in the face of oppression. It's not about being a hero for existing, it's about being a hero for existing and bravely choosing not to hide your identity despite the shitty fuck attitudes of people like this who would inflict real harm given the slightest chance.
