Have you considered all shareholders that might get a smaller dividend this quarter?

I remind myself about all this when people complain about masking in public.

Doesn't removed happen when they post a slur?

The good union, the IWW, had it's members killed, arrested, and deported. The AFL-CIO was probably the compromise that capitalism was willing to allow.

This is more common than people realise. It's called a "yellow union". If you read about the AFL, and the later merge with the CIO, they're pretty far down this path.

I'm not saying that you support imperialism explicitly. But if you ignore the last 5 centuries of colonialisation, and take a pro-Western stance, then you're implicitly ignoring and whitewashing said events.

authoritarian

Do you have any control at your workplace? Do you have any say in whether you're fired or not? Billionaires with huge egos like Musk running everything because of only their whim, is this democracy? Can you vote to stop ExxonMobile from drilling more oil wells? If you really believe that choosing between two pro-business parties is "democracy", you've been progandised

I kinda shocked that people aren't more mad. You are aware that our planet is dying, and that we have maybe a decade before complete climate collapse happens. I'm sorry that people are mean to you, but please make the effort to have a bit of humanity for their stress.

I guess it's because of all the suffering that Western imperialism has caused the world. If one assumes that Western power structures are inherently fair and ok, that person is washing the crimes of the West by just a little bit. If one assumes that capitalism works and is somehow fair, one neglects all the overseas exploitation that makes it happen.

If you're a socdem lib, you're still to the left of my early days, so me personally, I'm not gonna treat you like a demon.

I think the other answer is that a lot of us see a lot of genuine bullshit irl, and "dunking on a lib" is a small way to vent about all the unfair shit we're exposed to. I'm sorry if it's stressful in the short term, but try to remember that people are really hurting right now. I've definitely been dunked on by a marginalised person before, I've even been wrong. But I try to take the grown-up road and realise my privilege.

Edit, I forgot to add that liberals are complete dicks to us online when they are in the majority, like on Reddit.

I regret to inform my supervisor that these genius spillovers from reddit-logo are becoming aware of our secret plot and are outing our patriotic posters.

And r/CTH got banned

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 years ago

Ya I wouldn't kill yourself with being nice if they're obviously not taking the discussion seriously.

I haven't seen anything I'd blame you for. I'm legitimately sorry that libs are tiring. I get off you need to use some sarcasm after many posts of them being dicks.

I'm not saying I'm definitely right. And sure, the libs deserve the dunking. I look back to when I was a lib and I cringe at the shit I used to say. I'm certainly not thinking "oh why were they mean to me when I said something totally sexist", and honestly fuck anyone that puts their short term feelings above the oppression of a marginalised group.

That said, I think that some Hexbear peeps might be enjoying the now long-lost experience of dunking on libs. I get it, it's fine, I would too. I'm just wondering if we can tone down the insults and PPB, especially in other instances. I would really stick to informed discussion if possible. I'm not reading comments in too much detail, so maybe I'm wrong. I'm seeing a lot of people here put in a ton of genuine effort, and those posters get a order-of-lenin from me.

I have seen Lemmygrad posters complain (nicely) about the level of PPB and shitposting in non shitposting communities. Frankly I think the deserve a bit of respect in their communities. Their culture isn't the same as ours. I love you guys, but PPB is really only funny in Hexbear.

I sorta feel like a mass defederation is just a matter of time regardless of what we do. Maybe I'm just being hopeful that we can make this thing work. Dunno, you don't have to fully agree with me. But for me personally, I would post a lot more carefully with non Hexbear users.

Edit: let me reiterate that the libs do deserve the dunking

Since I've been Covid conscious and stuck indoors more than most people now, I thought that I'd get a new mini PC slash media center. I was tired af from seeing ads from the YouTube app on my smart TV, and I kinda wanted to stream from other places not supported by the WebOS that's part of my smart TV. If I could play a few games on it, great.

My problem is that I'm a pretty cheap person. It's not that I don't want to spend a few grand, it's just that expensive shit ends up stressing me out. I'd rather buy something a bit cheaper if the thought of it breaking won't ruin my day. Like if a child of my friend is playing around my computer, I'm mentally cursing that kid out because I can't imaging dropping another 3 weeks worth of salary. I always have an older generation phone with me. I've definitely dropped a phone or jumped in the pool with my mobile in my pocket and it's always just been a shrug "well I need a new phone anyhow". My partner just bought the newest iPhone she's pretty nervous about the thing.

I'm definitely not a hardware guy, so likely I'm gonna get chewed out here. Anyhow, one thing that I noticed was that shops charge a pretty decent premium compared to the internet. It felt like it was 20% or so. The other thing that I found frustrating was that it was damn near impossible to buy a computer WITHOUT buying Windows as well. Stuff online like this had (what looks to me) like crappy graphics and quite a premium for RAM and and SSD storage.

Again, I'm not great with hardware. Gamers, please be nice.

When comparing prices on AliExpress and Amazon, omg Ali Express is way lower. OK, I tried one from a brand that had good reviews on the site, no one really complaining, you definitely never heard of the brand. Reading the description, you definitely get the vibe that they're putting a cracked copy of Windows 10 on the machine, which is fine as I want to run Linux. It was 700 USD, they shipped it from Guangzhou and it got here in maybe 5 days.

Thing got here and just didn't work. In hindsight, the video output was broken. The customer service guy was nice enough. I used my Hexbear don't be Western chauvinistic asshole to the Chinese worker powers. The guy was cool. I mailed it back (maybe $50 shipping), and got a full refund. It was fine. A week later, the customer service guy messaged me saying they'd give me the wholesale price on a upgraded machine. Basically something that's listed for $1200 on Amazon, or $1000 on Ali Express, they'd sell me for $700. I'm like.... "hmmmm".... but my greed won out. The thing had a much better processor and graphics card.

So I have Linux Mint installed. It's been a few months and the thing works perfectly fine now. I play Atomic Heart or Cyberpunk on medium graphics quality and the thing runs perfectly fine. I don't fucking need ultra quality and frankly this thing is enough. The best thing is watching YouTube without fecking ads, or just streaming shit. I am NOT subscribing to another service like Disney or Apple.

tldr: AliExpress can be a wonderful thing if you're willing to risk mailing the thing back to China for fixes.
