Absolutely no AI-generated content is allowed! I know it has become quite difficult to tell whether or not something is AI-generated or not, but please make sure that whatever you post is not AI-generated. If it is, your post will be removed. If you continously post AI-generated content, you'll be banned from /c/birding (but it's obviously okay if you post AI-generated stuff once or twice without knowing you did so).
Please provide rough information location, if possible. This is a more loosely-enforced rule, especially because it is sometimes not possible to provide a location. But if you post a photo you took yourself, please provide a rough location and date of the sighting.
Hello all,
based on this meme, I decided to initiate a little November nut identification challenge on Lemmy. After two days (#8, #9) on [email protected], today [email protected] is requested to proof their nut knowledge.

OP, your directions were a bit unclear as to what specifically we should be guessing about. That's what prompted my other reply, but I was hoping someone else would chime in for the bird. Or that you yourself would say something like, "I meant the bird".
Here's a reply on the bird itself as a non-birder who has a pair of large bird feeders off their front porch.
My initial guess was an American Robin due to the belly coloring and grayish body, but I was able to recognize that the head coloring/patterns were off.
It looks like the correct answer is the Eurasian Nuthatch, which is something I don't think I would have seen before given that I live well outside their range.
Sorry I was out on a hike since I posted the challenge in the morning. And yes, you were meant to find the "nut" and you did a perfect job in doing so. It is indeed a Eurasian Nuthatch! 🎉
I didn't want to make it too easy, so I explicitly chose a picture with not only the bird itself but also some seeds as a red herring. ;)
