#2 rule: definitely don't host this shit in the US :D

Even if it was outside the US, wouldn't the entertainment industry people or through the US government, try to get the foreign government to do something about it?

Apperantly it was a "rogue GitLab instance" that was used for "for projects that can be easily DCMAed like youtube-dl or deemix." and they also had source code leaks. This is the explanation given bay u/SlaveZelda over at redsite.

cool, sucks that it got shut down :/

it's becoming more and more difficult for "illegal" open-source software to collaborate on, most recently remembering the GTA 3 source code leak that was shared on /r/linux_gaming and virtually all repos and copies of the repo got DMCA'd and shut down, now just some people passing it in DMs...

You can host git repos on the IPFS and there is a project called radicle that adds PRs and documentation to them all with IPFS and git. If the RIAA and other parties don’t calm down this might have to be the future.

i'm actually using radicle to host some stuff, and have been following the project for a few months now :)

but sadly it's still too small for any meaningful collaboration, with the project still in beta and all that, but let's hope it will grow in the future :)

Sadly no, I don't care for GTA in anyway.
