Most of my original subs come from .world so I donโ€™t know whatโ€™s worth following on .ml, lemmygrad, hexbear, etc.

Maybe I could even extend this question to what communities in non major instances are worth subing too.

lemmygrad and hexbear are Marxist-Leninist

might not be a good idea unless you consider yourself to be a Marxist-Leninist

also, there were once a fascist instance exploding-heads that were defederated by many instances, they no-longer exist, but it just shows not every ban is unjustified

as for people in lemmy.world: Your admins blocked [email protected]

Will op see your comment, if your instance is blocked?

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Um

  1. OP isn't currently using lemmy.world

  2. Only the community is blocked, the instance is fine.

Hexbear calls itself "leftist", though its userbase seems to lean ML.

[โ€“] [email protected] 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

i suspect that hexbear is the most active instance on lemmy by far; but if it wont be good for you if you can't handle genz/gena sensibilities or are not atleast vehemently anti-capitalist.

most active instance on lemmy

In the case of "frequently defederated"? Or in General?

Looking at FediDB (which seems a little broken), it seems like Lemmy.World is tripling their monthly posts.

In the case of โ€œfrequently defederatedโ€? Or in General?

both. lol

i think it's a symptom of the sensibilities of genz clashing with older generations; sort of like millennials clashing with boomers but to a MUCH more significant degree.

Looking at FediDB (which seems a little broken), it seems like Lemmy.World is tripling their monthly posts.

you can see how well above it's weight hexbear is punching when it comes to active users; communities like slop, badposting, and chapotraphouse in particular.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh, 100%. In terms of posts per active user, they look to be killing it.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

and it also doesn't include the people who aren't on hexbear; but still posting there.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That makes the stat worse, not better, no?

Uncounted users means fewer posts per user.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

It is for hexbear since it means that others whose post there aren't counted if their primary instance isn't hexbear

[โ€“] [email protected] 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You can go to the specific instance you have in mind and browse "Local" every once in a while.

I'm doing my part to pour shit into shitposting on .ml

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

lol you shitpost enough that I recognize your username

Well, if you want a sense of what the founder on .ml believes in, go to [email protected].

07 to Alsephina, shreddiebiologist, Peter Link, Arthur Besse, IndustryStandard, NightOwl, yogthos etc.

A sense of what the geopolitical fowks on Hexbear believe in, go to [email protected], specifically their megathreads (sometimes they reach 1000 comments, sometimes maybe 2 or 3 kilos)

for lemmygrad.ml's beliefs, just check any news area there (no big megathreads there; tis a small site there)

I second this measure of mander.xyz

[โ€“] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

For .ml, it's a mostly FOSS/adjacent subjects enthusiast instance, so you may be interested in communities like [email protected], [email protected].
