If this is what it takes for Canada to finally start diverting its economy away from the US,

If this is what it takes for Canada to finally realize the US doesn't see us as an equal,

Then bring it, orange piece of shit. Your move.

Here in Texas, lots of us been looking up to y'all for a long time. I don't know anyone, other than frothing conspiracy theorists, who looks down on Canada.

This isn't "the US" treating you as less than, this is our government welcoming you into the fold and treating you more like how they treat us. Don't let them.

My wife, who doesn’t follow politics, makes a point now of checking every single item we buy to see if it comes from the states.

I live in a pretty right wing rural area and all the businesses are promoting Canadian goods and dropping American swill.

Even in urban areas, people I know have started moving away from american-made. I was buying beer the other day and had made a choice but then noticed it denoted "American Hops". That went back on the shelf haha.

@HiddenLayer555 how do you think this will impact the #liberal leadership & general #elections?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I can't say for the liberals, but hopefully PP and Danielle Smith will oust themselves as traitors and people stop buying their bullshit.

@HiddenLayer555 I am spanish so PP for me was Popular Party hahaha it took me some time to realize you refered to Peter Poivre

They are traitors. Smith has already shown she’s sympathetic to the Trump administration and she’s going down for the prayer breakfast on taxpayer money, and PPs meeting with private healthcare companies in the U.S.

They’re both sellouts, and massive losers.

I gotta keep telling myself the world isn't going to end from this. It's not like planes are going to start falling from the sky... fuck.

So glad that Canada completely trashed our relationship with China so that we don't have any alternative trade partner we could turn to. A real political masterclass by the Liberals.

It probably won’t be that bad. One thing that China has shown is that it values practical long term strategy over ideology.

If Canada proposes an trade deal that benefits China, they are unlikely to let the past get in the way, especially since the leader behind many of the past decisions is out.

I do think China will be pragmatic here as well, but the question is whether Canada can get over the rhetoric of the past decade and do the sensible thing.
