I'm surprised The Terminal didn't get anything. Maybe a busy year? I thought it was great.

Really is a touching movie and great performance by Tom Hanks.
One of my favorites! I think people of the time had a hard time disconnecting Tom Hanks the celebrity from the role he is portraying. I’ve put together a black and white version of this movie for myself, which helps me focus on the wonderful framing and cinematography. It’s underrated IMO!
duel was great. almost no dialogue.. if youve never seen it, go in dark. its pretty suspenseful.. unpredictable
I read just the tagline on IMDB, is Duel parodied by Simpsons in the “Lousy Smarch Weather” episode where Bart is chased by a crazy Willie tractor in his dreams?
very possibly. i dont think ive seen that episode since it aired
Just a reminder of what bullshit the modern Oscars are. The man makes a wonderful version of The Color Purple, and doesn’t win a single Oscar for it.
Man's had it made since 93
Lincoln was a great biopic. Hyperfocusing on one pivotal moment in the man's illustrious life, and using the complexity of those circumstances to explore his intelligence and charisma from all angles was so much more effective than the whole-life-in-fast-forward approach so many other biopics follow.
Plus Daniel Day Lewis in peak form. Just an indescribably good performance.
I wonder if he regrets Crystal Skull...
it gets a lot of shit, but i kinda like it. it perfectly fits the origin genre of pulpy action hero that indiana jones is made from. i like the newest one for the same reason.
It's honestly shocking that 1941 was nominated at all.
