General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Kemi Badenoch’s spokesman refused to condemn proposals by Donald Trump to “take over” Gaza and expel its citizens to other countries in the region, saying that the Conservative party leader wanted to “see more details of what is being proposed”.

In a briefing with journalists, Badenoch’s spokesman refused repeated requests to distance the party from the President’s suggestion that the US would take a “long-term ownership position” of Gaza, after which Palestinians would have “no alternative” but to leave the country.

Pushed by Byline Times to reiterate the Conservative party’s longstanding support for a two-state solution in the Middle East, Badenoch’s spokesman refused, saying “I’m not going to get into that now”.

He also declined the opportunity to repeat UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s insistence that Palestinians “must be allowed home” to Gaza, saying that “I’m not going to get into the geopolitics of Israel”.

Well... lucky for Trump, he doesn't give a fuck what she thinks.

Well no one does because she's irrelevant. As long as she's leader of the conservative party the conservative party will never be in power, so she's basically a self solving problem.

An absolute ballon, but also one week can ignore

I don’t want for a Labour loss at the next General, but we pay a price as a nation when the primary opposition is a shambles. Right now the Tory disarray is handing legitimacy and weight to an even further right, even less competent alternative.

Oh it's absolutely not a good thing you are right. But if you ever watch pmqs you can see how labour just slap the Conservatives / Reform down even if they actually do have a modicum of a point.

Of course in Reforms case that is usually because the question is utterly moronic.

If only that's the way it worked with Trump. :(

Trump has supporters. All she has is people who are embarrassed to be in the room with her.

A spokesman??

What the hell is she doing that's so important someone else has to give her views to the press?

The entire job of opposition leader is to be seen and heard cos you're not doing jack that matters. I suppose I should be happy the Tory party is still so utterly useless but Christ a bit of competence in UK politics would help us all
