Helldivers 2 was released 1 year ago on 2024-02-08. I can recall many defining moments during my time playing Helldivers 2 such as shooting a rock in the distance because it looked like a Charger or failing miserably at destroying a grounded Illuminate Warp Ship.

My favorite moment was completing the Dark Fluid Mission and getting swarmed by Shriekers during extraction.

I joined right after the creek and have been playing pretty steadily since. I think I’m close to 250 hours and level 101.

The best moments were being low level and encountering the heavier enemies for the first time. Seeing a factory strider getting dropped in, hitting it with all of our stratagems, and it coming through the smoke like it was nothing was terrifying. Now I just call in an AT emplacement and blast until it isn’t standing haha

The illuminate surprise drop at the game awards was awesome, super earth cancelling all existing orders and ordering all divers to Calypso got me so hyped.

Now I chase the John Helldiver feeling of joining groups of lower level players and helping them out

I absolutely love calling in the AT emplacement for my lower level friends just getting started with the game.

Watching them deal with factory striders, gunships, tanks, BTs and such and I'll just be like. Hey, how's it going? Wanna use this big fucking gun instead?

It’s just so good. I tried it out expecting to not like it because I’m not the biggest fan of the MG emplacement, but now I can’t imagine pulling it from my loadout with bots. Bot drop incoming? Let me call in my dropship eraser.

The AT emplacement is probably my favourite stratagem for bots. It’s so satisfying knocking down gunships with one shot and dropships with two

The first DSS or ital barrage mission was F U C K I N G insane, it was just a non-stop barrage all over the mission map and you would go 20 steps, die, rinse and repeat and somehow still complete the mission...even worse when the sandstorms hit.

Rolling thunder in your skull with headphones, and probably low key PTSD to boot.

It was glorious.

I'm glad I was able to experience that before they took it offline.

Just like experiencing a constant stream of bot drops on the Retrieve Essential Personnel objective before it went offline.

It was madness.

Yeah, honestly before the big update in August the bugs were kind of-in my head cannon- part of the randomness of war. You could have done everything right and board the dropshot to exfil and have it take off leaving you on the ground.

One they haven't fixed yet, and is my absolute favorite bug, is the RANDOM YEET (ALL CAPS).

I used to be able to trigger it by stepping over a rocket devastator and getting LAUNCHED across the map to land outside (and die, with most of your samples irretrievably out of reach).

It happens less often now but a couple days ago I actually witnessed a squadmate get yeeted....It was epic.

My friends and I were playing an eradication mission, before the bot vanguard force was defeated. We were being destroyed by the bots but had reached decently close to beating the mission. I was camping on top of a mountain trying not to get killed by the bots when my friend who was being actively hunted by a group of hulks decided to drop a 500 kg bomb on himself. Despite the radius being much smaller back then, I was knocked off the mountain and with me went our last reinforcement. This blunder lost us the entire operation. We dubbed it “The 500kg Incident”.

Way back, one of the times we got pushed off the creek to Draupnier, a bunch of randos and I boosted the difficulty up to extreme for the first time. Random support weps, everyone had nothing but eagle airstrike and 500ks (almost mandatory meta at the time). We got stuck on with an endless hoard of hulks, tanks and devastators for 30 minutes constantly losing the precious inches we needed to push towards the base. It was intense and brutal. Made it down to our last reinforcement before we could actually break away and sneak for extract.

In hindsight we were just trash, and didn't understand how the ai worked, but hot damn will that slog stick with me. We all made it out, but I dropped back to hard strait after that failure. What a ride
