RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

crunchy roll as lovey dovey anime shows free for valentines so been binging those. I like the one that ends in expresses her feelings in russian and just finished tomo-san is a girl which are on the better side. Still going on love is war but finished the first season and I like that one to. also the sorcerer confesses his feeling toward elf girl one was good (im butchering these titles btw). They have so many I likely won't get through them before the special is over. Never can tell how long they run them. I should have checked back early feb so lost a week or so but sometimes it will go into march with this stuff. they tend to lag than lead on these things.

We watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent last night. Perfectly on par for a Nic Cage movie, but Pedro Pascal is the one who made the movie worth it.

Just Letterkenny. I've already seen all of it but sometimes it just feels like I can step into a world where I just do a lot of hanging out with fine people in a still place in the world.

I binged 2 seasons of Silo in 1 week. Started last Saturday and finished yesterday.

It was amazing with some nice twists.

American History X (1998)

With Edward Norton and Edward Furlong. And Beverly D'Angelo doing a good job too. It's intense and occasionally violent and it feels now like the world could have done something about the "neo-nazis" in the last 90s but didn't take a strong enough stance. Or I don't know, I'm not smart.

Common Side Effects!

This show is soooooo good. Created by Joe Bennett who previously was the creator of Scavenger's Reign which was sadly cancelled. Steve Hely co-created it, not to leave him out. I have a soft spot for Joe Bennett because he illustrated Joe Pera's bathroom book A Bathroom Book for People Not Pooping or Peeing but Using the Bathroom as an Escape.

This show is more in line with Bennett's usual animation style with big heads on detailed characters.

If y'all have not checked out Adult Swim's Common Side Effects please do so, it's already going great places. Only three episodes in, episode four comes this Sunday.

Also, it has one of my favorite ladies, Martha Kelly in it.

If it's the US shithole comfort yourself that it's great for the rest of the world.
