A husband is said to have murdered his wife with a “big a*** knife” when she was less than enthusiastic over his Valentine’s Day plans.

Taylor Meyer, 34, had put together a Paris-themed night for his partner Deborah, buying her a new dress and having their children draw pictures of the Eiffel Tower. His attempts are said to have been borne out of suspicions she was having an affair with a co-worker.

However when he unveiled the plans she “didn’t give a s***”, according to court documents . The evening allegedly ended with her being beaten with a wine bottle and then stabbed her 40 times, as their children - all aged under five - slept upstairs in their home in Jefferson, Louisville in the US.

Law and Crime reported he told investigators: “It was the hardest I’ve ever tried. She just didn’t give a s***.” An affidavit says: “For the last two months I’ve been staying home with the kids every Saturday night while she goes and f****s whoever and lies to my face about it.

...

When she was dead he is said to have taken a picture of her body and texted it to the person she was allegedly sleeping with, adding: “Your fault.”

Maybe she just wasn't thrilled to be married to a deranged psycho 😨

Yeah, Paris-themed is kinda thin as well. Had the kids do all the work.

I don't think we should judge the quality of the effort sight unseen. For all we know she just didn't react exactly as he imagined, or she likes kitsch, or whatever.

What we know is he didn't get what he wanted so he killed her, the details are between the police, the family, and the inevitable true crime podcast.

I'm glad you are here giving his Paris themed date night a fair chance. It's important that we don't jump to any conclusions.

Look, man, maybe you want to blame the kids making shitty art for their mother's death but I just don't think we should assume it's their fault.

I mean.....dude probably won't be a part of cheating again....

I don't think we should assume she was cheating just because the murderer thought she was.

Poor children. No loving parents anymore.

The couple had a disagreement on Valentine's Day, leading to Deborah's death

That's certainly one way to describe a femicide.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

I don't think it counts as femicide, at least not my understanding of what femicide is.

The motivation wasn't based on gender, it was based on feelings of betrayal and/or personal resentment.

Women being murdered over their sexual unavailability rarely happens, so it's perfect for a community about "odd and quirky" news stories.

Yeah its really novel and unusual!

I'm confused, is stabbing common in France? Doesn't sound like the best planned theme

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Not sure if... you're not sure, but I was.

This took place in Jefferson, which is evidently a suburb or subdivision of Louisville, Kentucky.

Yeah, but it was a Paris-themed date. They’re asking if beating her with a wine bottle and stabbing her was really in-keeping with the theme. IMHO I think he went a bit off-piste here, Paris isn’t really known for knife crime.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Paris isn’t really known for knife crime.

Yeah, isn't that London? Just be be mean; maybe an average American won't even know they speak different languages or that one is in England and Paris in France.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, London is a big one for it. Sounds bad until you realise that the reason it's so high relative to the US is because they don't have access to guns.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

It’s worse than that. London is full of Londoners.

If I was a Londoner I’d both want to stab people and want to be stabbed, too.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

yeah but it was Paris themed

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

Seriously fucked up

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago

I'm morbidly curious whether she was actually cheating on him with the dude who got the picture. Was it a horrible feeling of realization on the receiver's otherwise blissful friday evening? Was it guilt? Was it that creeping trauma that won't be understood until years later because of one insane dipshit's rage?

Those poor fucking kids, man. I can't imagine myself at the age of five thinking my parents were anything but perfect.

I was about to close Lemmy for the night and now I need to forget this story because yikes. As a father of two little ones this really fucks with me, especially since the kids were going to be involved with drawings. Those kids are not going to grow up OK.
