So labor unions must be more moral than the owning class?

How fucked up.

I have heard inflation is cool now (10% a year for the next 4 years).
I hope we can get "inflation causing things" like a $25 minimum wage.

This may be a distraction, so just remember: Trump wants us to forget about the Epstein files, which had just been on Pam Bondi’s desk.

Who has a link to the list of politicians convicted of sex crimes in the last ~50 years? (I am not finding it.)

What could the motivations of the owner be, if not to make money?
Please add to my list:

  • prestige
  • tax avoidance
  • boost retirement savings (in the USA, business owners can stuff their retirement accounts with LOTS of cash.)
  • Create and disguise a "sex pad"
  • improve the community by providing jobs and/or needed services (start a coffee shop so that there is a coffee shop.)
  • time filler

Of those, I think a very healthy 401K contribution from the employer to the employee would be motivating to those already paid well.

Many employees already use the business as a sex pad. (Conference rooms can be gross.)

Seems the pink paper has a backing on it to stiffen it. Left side seems to show the backing, which may be pink cardboard. Given the mounting location, I would expect it to be "floppy" like the "lined" paper without a stiffener.
All of my above to say, I think someone put a "lot" of effort into the pink sign.

I appreciate your comment.

I dislike administrative issues on votes being called out by the board after the vote takes place. When administrative issues are noted after the vote, it looks like the board is trying to subvert the membership.

Great to know. I don't know if 106% of CPU is good or bad, but it is not what I had anticipated. Thank you!

I enjoy that "reading the book" and "taking a practice exam" were not listed as activities done. :)

I am convinced the entire actual point of college is to test "ability to finish a project". A Bachelor's degree is a four year project. A Master's degree is an additional two year project. A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is an additional five to eight year project. (Do remember that a Master's is not needed for a PhD.)

This is not a judgement on the many reasons for stopping.

First three paragraphs, article is longer:

Federal immigration agents descended on a farm outside of Camarillo on July 10, blocking off a road outside the facility and clashing with protesters.

Reports flooded social media in the morning of federal agents arriving at a Glass House Farms facility at 645 Laguna Road. Video posted by 805 Immigrant Coalition, a group that tracks Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity, showed men in tactical gear blocking off a roadway.

The raid marked one of Ventura County's largest since the Trump administration has ratcheted up its deportation efforts across the state and country. Days earlier, a large caravan of military vehicles drove through Los Angeles' MacArthur Park, sparking outrage from politicians.

Hoping this helps someone in the future... (Likely myself when I forget all of this and reinstall.)

Setup: "OS install" of Jellyfin on Debian with package 10.10.7+deb11. Videos hosted on a FreeBSD and mounted with NFSv3.

When scanning libraries to find new videos, either the scan pauses midway through indefinitely, or completes quickly. CPUs are idle, several Jellyfin processes in state "D". No information logged in Jellyfin logs. One error in dmesg note about nfs lock files (one every few hours).

Can partly diagnose with these commands from https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/freebsd-v14-1-release-p3-nfsv3-no-lock-available.94531/ and user "tanis":

touch /data/test/myfile
# obtain nfs lock from FreeBSD client
lockf /data/test/myfile true && echo ok || echo nok
# obtain nfs lock from Linux client
flock /data/test/myfile true && echo ok || echo nok

If the flock hangs, then the fix is to disable NFS locking. Add "nolock" to the NFS mount options.

After remounting and starting the scan, the Jellyfin processes should produce a lot of CPU load and network traffic.

Discussion: Why did the scan work completely for one and only one folder? I suspect ffprobe was not invoked for the successful run, but my other folders have home movies and are not easily detected.

Is there a tested way to keep water from a very small pool safe week to week? Think of the ~20 cm deep hard plastic ones meant for children.

I can water the plants, but I would like to reuse the water all summer. I imagine a closed cycle container with a filter, pump, and chlorine in a 50 gal drum. While I could devise my own, it seems best not to.

Thanks!

There are more than 56,000 semi-truck drivers and another 18,000 light truck drivers in Minnesota, according to the state Department of Employment and Economic Development, meaning widespread layoffs and reductions in income could ripple throughout the greater economy.

What's more, the city and team are drastically reducing their request for state funding, down from the $394.6 million suggested in March to just $50 million in Thursday's proposal.

The Minnesota Republicans sponsoring the bill include Shane Mekeland (Clear Lake), Krista Knudsen (Lake Shore), Assistant GOP Floor Leader Walter Hudson (Albertville), Jeff Dotseth (Silver Township), Tom Murphy (Underwood), Pam Altendorf (Red Wing), Keith Allen (Kenyon), and Deputy Speaker Pro Tempore Isaac Schultz (Elmdale). Several have also sponsored a marginally less extreme bill (HF 3152) that would make administering mRNA vaccines a misdemeanor subject to a $500 penalty.

I am looking for ideas on what products should be produced locally. Not things that your area can do sn awesome job at and export. Rather things that should be locally produced near everyone.

Feel free to define "locally" as you wish. I am thinking with 5 miles, but with 200 is also good.

Please include your reasoning. Everything from shipping costs, to ownership "punch-ability" are great.

I will kick things off in the comments.
