My guess is the same account spamming about running for mayor of Ottawa is showing an inability to read any story on donations to Ukraine since we started donations over a year ago.
Edit: just realized this post was from a 5 months ago, still one year into the war.
I think it's important to note that this isn't just throwing money in to a hole. The stuff we donate is mostly made in Canada, so there's some economic kickback
Does it matter if we are giving them the money to pay for what they buy from us anyway?
Are we donating money to them or is that a loan?
If you called it a $100 billion plus loan, what do you think the prospects of a worn torn country ever repaying it?
Good point. IIrc, the loan that usa gave the uk for ww2 was only paid off in like 2017.
Iirc, trudeau said we citizens can buy ukrainian war bonds that pay back in like 10 years. I assume that for those war bonds, it goes:
citizen -> war bond -> money to canada -> money to ukraine.
Meaning i would think cashing in on the war bonds in 10 years would go;
ukraine -> canada -> war bond -> citizen?
But if ukraine can't pay back citizens for war bonds, does the canada gov just foot the bill?
