Until I finish showering. It’s the last step I do.

Who calls anything cowash?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 hours ago

Anyone with curly hair who is wanting to follow the Curly Girl method of caring for your curls so they maintain their shape better.

Although I don't much like the term either. But the method does really work.

I put the conditioner in my hair, then let it sit a couple of minutes while I wash the rest of my body. When I'm done I rinse it all in one go.

I follow the directions on the container. Mine doesn't say to let it set, so it stays in as long as it takes me to give it and my scalp a good scrub.

Edit: I also use something called co-wash, not conditioner.

Is co-wash conditioner? 30 sec max.

Apparently that means no shampoo, only conditioner...? On the rare occasion that I use conditioner, it goes in after the shampoo is out and stays in for however long it takes me to soap the rest of my body.

For curly hair types, shampoo shouldn't really be used. Conditioner is used to "wash" the scalp and hair (thus, "co-wash"), rinse it out, and then condition again, leaving it in while you wash the rest of you with soap, and then rinse it all off at the end.

Why is curliness relevant to shampooing?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 hour ago

shampoo strips natural oils which makes hair thick or something, i really have no idea i just like my curls :3

Oh okay. Thanks for teaching me something.

Sit time doesn’t make a difference for my hair so it’s solely down to how much warm water I want and how tired I am (I’m an afternoon-evening showerer).
