Cult MTL on Bluesky

As the Conservatives blow a 30-point lead in the polls, we remind you that Canada’s mainstream media still chooses not to fact-check Pierre Poilievre.

“Poilievre has benefitted immensely from legacy media’s inability to challenge conservative bullies.”

.... because mainstream privately controlled and owned media is part of the conservative party

Also PP, when are you going to complete your security clearance? What are you hiding?

I agree with you. Conservative bias in mainstream media is apparent to all except the willfully blind. Especially Financial Post. I stopped reading their garbage more than a decade ago. And I'm not touching Toronto Sun with anything.

about 60% is owned by the Chatham Asset Management, the rest of Post Media is owned by Allianz Global Investors GmbH in Germany ... third on the list is Leon Cooperman, an American billionaire

about 1% is actually owned by Canadian companies and corporations

Can you point me to the breakdown? I've been linking the Wiki, and if it's outdated I'd rather be factually correct in my vitriolic and justified anger.

You're the second person I've seen point out Leon Cooperman's share. I'm really glad you didn't do what the other person did and slap "a JEEEEEWWWWWW!" after his name. It was really disgusting, and has no place in these discussions. We've got enough systemic racism and shit that need sorting without bringing antisemitism into the mix.

The Post Media brands have never been seen as reputable though

[–] Sturgist 1 points 1 hour ago

Sure, that doesn't mean Postmedia isn't snapping up newspapers in small communities all across Canada.
As a comparison, Fox News isn't seen by anyone rational as reputable. And look at what they've had a hand in?

Maybe not by you, but plenty of Canadians consume content from them.
