This article has good coverage of some of the impacts of cutting SNAP, several of which aren't immediately obvious. Thank you for sharing it!

I can assure you that the ultra wealthy will feel nothing.

Let's go, we saved 30 bucks! Only 20 trillion more to go!

Kids aren't a worthwhile investment in the future, right?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

Minority kids.

More than 2/3 of the free school meal recipients were black, or hispanic/latino.

As usual, they’re willing to screw over some of “their own” as long as they screw the minorities harder.

Modern conservative Pro-Life institutions are all bound up in the for-profit adoption system. They are quite literally setting up a free market for children, run out of the backs of Christian church centers as "charity" institutions.

Which is extra frustrating, because I know people who have tried to obtain employment in Social Services as a sector. The pay is absolutely shit on its face. The agencies are all dodgey as hell. The public system is fatally fucked and far more concerned with punishing people than helping them (because punishing people can be made more profitable).

The only way to do any amount of good works is to go fishing in pursuit of the least-degenerate private sector charity outfits. And even then, you're talking about long hours for shit pay, in a system that really really really wants you to operate as a kickback program for a political affiliate.

It's OK because trump's tariffs are basically going to make food so cheap it might as well be free, right?... what do you mean everything is going up in price?! WTF is going on here?!!!!

Well Schumer and his ten Democrats set us down this road so Democrats have plenty of blame for this.

The great thing about children on food assistance plans is that they don't have any political sway and most likely neither do their parents. They are political punching bags. You can starve them. You can jail them. You can rape them. The sky is the limit, so long as you're not held back by any kind of ethical standard or moral compunction.

What we're willing to inflict on our children, from this to demanding their future be as a cog in the capitalist machine is a big part of why extinction by climate change is starting to look like an alluring mercy long term.

Will people including children suffer? Absolutely. Are most people and children suffering now with no end to that suffering if the capitalists get their way? Absolutely.
