He's a real one. Too bad he got framed. I saw the guy who did it and it looked nothing like Luigi.

It was actually Dave. He told me himself.

Top of Reddit right now is some white asshole who got a ball in a hole bestest of all.

I come to Lemmy & this is on top of my All feed. Much better.

I understand that "sportsball" is incredibly unpopular here on lemmy because yall are a bunch of nerds, but rory mcilroy accomplished something today that is extremely unusual and deserves recognition.

Luigi also accomplished something extremely unusual that deserves recognition, but he didn't do it today.

It's more like an illustration of Reddit turning into a useless bunch of fluff. I don't know anything about golf or that guy, it just happened to be the top fluff when I posted.

Indeed, I find Sportsball not terribly interesting, and think it gets too much pride of place in news media (not being able to separate Sports from "Breaking News" push notifications on the Guardian app back when I had it, comes to mind. Grumble, grumble).

I don't begrudge anyone who enjoys it though. Everyone has their own interests!

For selfish reasons, I'm pretty glad Lemmy isn't terribly interested. It saves me from having to filter out the biggest sports communities like I had to on Reddit.

There are plenty of valid reasons to find sports boring. Yes playing some in person is fun but it's totally valid to dislike watching or hearing about them.

Giving an upvote without the worry that my account will be banned for upvoting "unsanctioned content" = priceless

Fuck reddit

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Agreed, I got banned for upvoting and replying with animated Mario Kart gifs of Luigi.

[–] [email protected] 60 points 2 months ago

Can't deny Luigi Mangioni had a positive influence on Civilization.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

We got to free Luigi so he can fix the god awful UI issues of Civ VII ASAP!

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Same here. For criticizing Israel.

[–] [email protected] 38 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I was banned for up voting a comment that was just this gif with no context:

If really like to know more about him, and what pushed him to do what he did.

In the US, when referring to veterans, some people seem to carry this big distinction between regular vets and "combat" vets. Sure, there are the stolen valor people, who would tell others they did things they didn't, but for the most part, people who served, just got through it, and did what they had to do... The old, "heroes aren't born, they're made" thing - where we react to situations we're thrust into. Not being thrust into harrowing situations doesn't make one "less of" a man or woman.

Personally, I see more of the Luigi stuff coming, considering how things are going in the US. But, if like to know more about how this allegedly all came together in his case... he's just some 20-something college kid - outside of his current predicament, that is.

Don't let the propaganda machine and all the blatant, prejudicial rigging get to you, my man. They haven't proven beyond a reasonable doubt, using legal evidence, that it is him.

Right now, it's only alleged, and they've mishandled the evidence badly.

Don't do their job for them.
