My first panic attack in 5 fucking years and an embarrassing episode at work that I'm sure I'll have to talk to HR about tomorrow or Monday so they can determine if I'm sane or crazy and should be fired...

I am... So tired...

Do you only work 4 days per pay period? If not, wouldn't this be considered "wage theft" which is illegal in much of the world?

15 Dias per payday, but here's the catch:

I live in Venezuela, and it's no surprise that our economy is cooked. There is a minimum wage, all companies, public or private, are obliged to pay that, but it is barely a couple of dollars at the exchange rate. The official salaries are almost nothing, but the private companies found a Loop Hole: The "bonuses", an unofficial salary that is usually in dollars and at least 10 times more than the base salary. Being unofficial, it is not subject to any regulation or law, it can be more or less, it is not contemplated in the retirement or in the leave due to dismissal or resignation, in those cases they only pay you the minimum wage.

That 25% I am talking about belongs to those bonuses, which today are indispensable and on which I and millions of workers depend enormously to pay for goods and services, since the base salary, I insist, does not give for anything (if lucky, a hamburger without fries).

So, even if the situation were as you say (which it is), I have no legal support to protest. I'm screwed one way or another.

Nobody deserves this bullshit. I'm sorry that happened to you. This year more than ever we should band together and demand actual lives from our ruling class.
