speaking Irish, they were then arrested “for violating Berlin’s Freedom of Assembly Act”.

Ah, the tried-and-true method of a law doing the exact opposite of its name.

who knew that the ministries of love, peace, etc. from 1984 would take root in the only environment where they've overtly made efforts to prevent future fascism.

Honestly the efforts made to prevent fascism in Germany were pretty limited, especially on the western side. There were less people punished for Nazi war crimes at Nuremburg than there was staff at Auschwitz. A lot of industrialists and business owners who supported the Nazi party were allowed to keep their business and even official positions. There were Nazi officials who basically got a finger wag and their position back with a promise to be good this time.

They've been getting worse and worse about actually preventing Nazis from engaging with official politics recently as well

Wtf. This breaks down to: "I'm arresting you because I don't understand what you're saying"

Not, "you've said something illegal", nor any actual crime in any form. Arrested purely because the cops don't speak the same language.

So If I don't speak English/German, I'm not allowed to represent my opinions and values, nor support those that do?

We also aren't talking about some totally unexpected language like idk, Belarusian. It's Irish, while protesting infront of the Irish embassy.... If the cops don't understand, that's on them
