This is my cat.

I don't care.

She's too cute.

I literally just pet her while typing this. She's sat on a shelf next to my dest, looking out of the window. When I did she let out a loud, surprised/indignant MRRP and then glared at me. I pet her again. Her eyes narrowed and she looked back out of the window.

'Scuse you, she's busy stalking birds right now! Don't remind her she's actually indoors, that's like your mom interrupting your video game!

When you get up, grab a wand toy and waggle it for her to pounce at awhile and then give her a crunchy treat, like it's the bones of that chickadee out there.

I jus tsurprised her. She gets easily startled, poor thing, and I am strangely quiet. I accidentally sneak up on her all the time. She is currently standing on my shoulders and purring LOUDLY.

Awww! Maybe it's you who needs to wear a bell.

I thought MRRP is universally understood as a "hello"? Or does she speak a different cat language?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh it's definitely hello but think about how we use that same word in English. We can go from a friendly greeting, to an exclamation of surprise, to yelling it in rage. Mrrp no different.

Makes sense! That's why I tell kitties how cute they are before I pet them - no surprise.

Omg, that’s my fucking partner. She loves one of the kitties so much that she’s infatuated. Kitty is ok with being adored about half the time. But when she’s not in the mood she puts furniture between them. My partner is a mild chaser.

Consent is key

A while ago, I was out on a walk and there was a cat sat squarely in the middle of a road that's basically only used by farmers. As I walked by, I figured, alright, I'll just walk calmly all the way on my side of the road, so I don't disturb her. She meowed at me all the way through.

When I was back home, I realized that she actually wanted me to pet her. And yeah, I just thought that sounds about right, that I'm socially awkward even when no humans are involved...

Now before you go to sleep, think about all the potential partners you missed because you couldn't read the signs

I'm in this picture! But it's pretty obvious if a cat wants to be left alone. I usually crouch down and go pspsps but if they don't take the bait, I respect that and leave them alone.

I love donuts

I love when mine acts like this, only to walk back up, roll over, and meow for more. If you didn't want to be snuggled, you would run away! I can see through your lies, cat.
