Correct me if I'm wrong, but GUI package managers are completely discouraged in Tumbleweed.

Yes, at least for system updates.

@[email protected] What app is that? Discover?

Actually that's not the case anymore. Packagekit can do zypper dup now.

@unknowing8343 They actually working very well but it's up to the user to make the choice #Tumbleweed is all and always about possibilities and choices

@unknowing8343 that article is dated of 2019, are you sure it's still relevant in 2025?
On my side gnome software center works and works well, also i've noticed an increase in quality
but, thanks, i'll keep that close

I mean, I'll do as the Wiki says, specially with something so critical.

Used to be the case, but nowadays it's fine to use Discover and the GNOME's app store (according to the devs on Reddit). The wiki seems to be out of date, which is unfortunately common with openSUSE.

is this official policy? i usually update my tumbleweed installation with discover and when i tried updating from plasma 5 to 6 from the terminal, the plasma session was killed and so was the update process, leaving the system in a broken state

Last edited in 2019. Now at least according to devs on Reddit it's fine to use a GUI since Packagekit knows how to do zypper dup

I liked that game, especially the swearing clown, but the story kind of unraveled at the end. Good to see Ron Gilbert back at the wheel making adventure games though.
