First used it in 2004 I think. Messed around a bit and did a couple tutorials. Played with the game engine for a few years and put some stuff on gamejolt.com. I do more software development these days but Blender is still my go-to for general modelling and animating when I have a reason for it.
Blender Animation 3D Artists
A community where budding animators can ask their questions while the pro would be guiding them. All kinds of visual artists are welcome in this space.
Open ended questions are always welcome in this community ๐๐๐
Surely you know how to use GitHub ? To be honest, l need to figure out how to use this treasure trove.
I do.
Can you suggest me some website/tutorial which will teach me how to make use of a project from GitHub ? I wish to make a very simple 3D animation.
That depends on what kind of project you're looking at.
I know a good site that teaches the fundamentals of using Git for version control: https://learngitbranching.js.org/
But since you're asking about animation, I'm guessing you might want more info geared towards that instead.
It's been ages since I was really active with Blender. BlenderArtists.org might have some good tutorials.
For some animation topics you can search for, there's how to set key frames, using the graph editor (I haven't watched that tutorial, so I have no idea if it's any good). And for more advanced animations look up character rigging (foot roll tutorials may show you several techniques involved with more advanced character rigs, but start with the basics first.
I started back in 2018-19. While learning the ins and outs of the interface, I was curious about how the animation for rotation of objects would work for a rotating angle of more than 360ยฐ between keyframes ie. whether it would perform a complete revolution or take the shortest rotation possible. I created a short video of an object to test this out and found it to be the former.
I recall having tried out Blender earlier as well. The pre-2.8 interface was overwhelming for me, combined with the weird default mouse controls, so I deleted it shortly after.
That was long before ai came in l suppose ?
I first used Blender around 2015. I believe it was right before the 2.8 update. I did the classic Blender guru donut tutorial for both versions of Blender. Loved the software but I never felt like I had a knack for 3d modeling. I enjoyed seeing other user's creations back on reddit. Been a couple of years since I last checked in over there so I'd love to see this community and others like it take off here.
