Crying is healthy

He is literally crying in the picture though. What is this book of lies?

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He's not crying, his eyes are just a bit sweaty!

The running joke in the Little Critter books is the unreliable narrator.

More importantly, what is Little Critter? A groundhog? A capybara?

I don't know, but my 5 year old daughter innocently calls Mercer Mayer "Mistress Mayer" and it's all I can do to not burst out laughing, thinking of the author as a hard core scenester in tight leather holding a riding crop.

Vulnerability is strength

I wanted to cry, but I didn't.

I was brave instead, and also sad.

And now I don't know how to cry or be sad.

And everything is grey.

Today I lost my favorite hoodie :(

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

That is actually pretty sad. I am sorry for you. Take all the time you need.

But when you feel up to it, your local charity shop has lots of comfortable hoodies looking for a good wearer.

What're the odds that I was thinking about this image recently only to have it posted here

Checks out; seven is odd.

I’d like for there to be a name for this phenomenon too, but the Baader-meinhoff is the closest thing to it that I know of.

it has never been a shame for a man to cry. It is a shame to cry for silly things when you are a man!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

Crying is a reaction to strong emotions, which has beneficial hormonal effects, especially if it's because of psychological pain. When someone cries you can be sure, that they have all the reasons they need. Whether it seems silly to you or not, for that person it's a big thing and should be taken seriously instead of invalidating and demeaning them.

It's not a man crying tho, it's a... thing ?

Great correction!
